News of Students

            Last February, once tests conducted the second evaluation, 51 our students Institute enjoyed a wonderful trip that will surely never forget. Accompanied by three teachers and a guide that is not separated from us at all trip, They could see in Roma, the Colisseum, where we were fortunate to meet Mariano Rajoy, what kindly he photographed with the group, Roman Forum, the Arch of Titus and Constantino,  Column Trajana, the Pantheon with its impressive dome, the monument to Victor Emmanuel II, first king of unified Italy, where also it has the grave soldier unknown with its eternal flame, Spain Square, the beautiful paintings Andrea Pozzo in the Church of St. Ignatius with its illusionistic perspectives, the sculpture of the Ecstasy of St. Theresa of Bernini in Santa Maria de las victories, the beautiful facade of San Carlos of the four sources of Borromini, Piazza Navona and the Church of St. Agnes, and of course the famous Trevi Trevi. A whole morning dedicated to Vatican, visiting the Basilica of San Peter and the Vatican Museums with the Sistine Chapel impressive, where no fit a fly. It was not all art in Rome, also we enjoyed the tasty cuisine and Italian pasta in the restaurant Miscellany, together To the pantheon. He had to regain strength after heavy hikes and Pasquale we were treated as VIP guests,  putting the icing his rich food with their friendliness and good service.

The Sunday, after visiting the Vatican, In the afternoon,  We drive to Florence, a city where humanism breathe and away from the large proportions of Roma. Our hotel was in a beautiful square Renaissance, next to the Hospital of the Innocents. We visited the Duomo, the museum Academy and Uffizi Gallery, the Ponte Vecchio, Market St. Lorenzo, outside Santa Maria Novella and still had time to shop. At night we enjoyed the disco accompanied by two teachers. The next day, path Venice stopped at Pisa to visit Romanesque set and enjoy magnificent pizzas.

In Venice we could enjoy the city in full bloom, for they were carnivals and let the beautiful architecture accompanied by characters drawn from another era. We arrived by vaporetto, cycled gondola, San Marcos visited, Bridge of Sighs, the Grand Canal, Rialto Bridge, We visit a Murano glass workshop and, Of course, We buy Venetian masks. At night they were still forces us to dance and have fun. We reached the end of our trip, but Bergamo Airport Road still had time to visit the beautiful Verona, the house of Romeo and Juliet, Roman amphitheater (The Arena of Verona), and coquettish streets. Airport procedures, always with the invaluable help of Ana Ruth, our excellent and tireless guidance and landing in Zaragoza, with the penalty of having completed the journey of our life. Last February took place the last defenses of research projects carried out by the second School of Excellence promotion of IES Valle del Cidacos of Calahorra. This time it was the turn of the discipline of Chemistry with the following exhibitions:

1.-Víctor Fernández Zárate Robín: Crystals: crystallization conditions and lattices

2.-Ivan Castellanos Gurrea: Determination of fluorine in toothpastes

3.-Maria Calvo Blazquez: Determination Acidic commercial vinegars

These three young researchers made us participants in their learning, developed mainly in laboratories Department of Chemistry at the University of La Rioja, thanks to an agreement that this school has signed with this entity.

Students who are studying the Bachelor of Excellence in IES Valle del Cidacos in Calahorra, just defend their research projects to the evaluation tribunal. By third consecutive year has launched the School of Excellence IES Valle del Cidacos in Calahorra. After several months of classes in Spanish and English speaking and presentations in different topics of general interest, taught by recognized specialists prestige, students have started to defend their research projects which have been occupied for two courses.

These jobs are led by the Center teachers acting as tutors the different disciplines chosen by the students themselves, according to their interest in future university studies.

The first students to present and defend their research before the court evaluator have been:

• Ana Armas Herradón, He defended his project Woman, art and sexism: life and work of Camille Claudel
• Sánchez Concha Hierro: Garbo, the spy who deceived Hiltler
• Vizan María Ruiz: Nazi women, ¿Banality of evil or innate cruelty?

In all three cases the teacher who led the Research was Maria Jesus Ramón Aragón, member of the department Geography and History of IES Valle del Cidacos.

The exhibits were very interesting, original and fluid; also, They demonstrated the important research and prior to the completion of work structuring. They were conducted in Spanish and English as required by the law of this Baccalaureate, except of what, when applying the three students also Excellence in English Linguistics, They had to expand paragraphs in that language.

During the first term 2018-1019, students enrolled in high school our Center of Excellence have received a series of presentations aimed at expanding their knowledge in the different materials with which have three modes: High.

Like this, they have visited our institute specialists in various disciplines who have our students approached their knowledge in specific subjects such as, by example:

– Mercedes Sainz Miranda, radiologist the Early Detection Program Breast cancer in La Rioja, who spoke students on Cancer of mom

The past 22 and 23 November students of 2nd year of IES Valle del Cidacos traveled, as is tradition, Leon. On the way back we turn to Herrera de Pisuerga and took the opportunity to make a boat trip on the Canal de Castilla, representative work of enlightened eighteenth century Spain

The next morning we visited the University of León. The rector of the university welcomed us and accompanied the students of Sciences, who visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Biology. Meanwhile, students of arts and letters with their teacher visited the Faculty of Arts where we received the coordinator of the Degree in Art History. And a third group could meet the Faculty of Engineering, where they could try out a flight simulator and observe the operation of 3D printers by adding.

On the way back we visited the Villa Romana de La Olmeda, near Saldaña. The Roman Empire, It is the best preserved village in Spanish soil and conserves 1500 m² of beautiful mosaics.

PIONEERING PROGRAM EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Positive-Mind, It is a pioneering program offered by the IES Valle del Cidacos in collaboration with the University of La Rioja and tries to improve the emotional wellbeing of young people. It aims to develop, improve and / or enhance socio-emotional skills that are relevant to personal life, familiar, academic and social.

They work among other things attention skills, control and emotional regulation, social skills, conflict management, teamwork and behavior and study habits.

Knowledge of these strategies helps a positive emotional development of young people who no doubt will be reflected in improved academic performance.
