Taking advantage of the release of the film by Alejandro Amenabar on the figure of Unamuno at the beginning of the Civil War, we contacted the manager of Cines Arcca of Calahorra, Alfonso Benegas Zamora, who happily received our proposal. We wanted to make extensive activity to students of ESO, choosing a film suitable for them and, seek an affordable price for that participation was high. Cinema is not just entertainment, It is also art, and, to a large degree, education. We are confident that the projection “As the war” It has been a great contribution to high school students, 4º ESO and FP Basic II, who have enriched their knowledge about the Civil War and the figure of Unamuno, thus approaching our past differently than we do in the classroom, understanding the complexity of social and political events, without facile simplifications, understanding to be able to see the reasons for the other. They have witnessed, even in fiction, part of our history, and they have been able to understand humanity and complexity of one of the great intellectuals who have given our country, always critically. On the other hand, this film brings ethical values and civic essential in the formation of our students.
Students of 1, 2º and 3 attended projection “maleficent” of Joachim Ronning Norwegian director. Being more commercial cinema, moral and pure spectacle with some reflection on the feminine condition, the English version brings to language learning, colloquialisms that do not appear in textbooks, It allows to acquire vocabulary and grammatical structures and, perhaps most importantly, our ears accustomed to the sounds of English, improving our understanding.
