During the first term 2018-1019, students enrolled in high school our Center of Excellence have received a series of presentations aimed at expanding their knowledge in the different materials with which have three modes: High.

Like this, they have visited our institute specialists in various disciplines who have our students approached their knowledge in specific subjects such as, by example:

– Mercedes Sainz Miranda, radiologist the Early Detection Program Breast cancer in La Rioja, who spoke students on Cancer of mom  

– Luis war, novelist and expert researcher on World War II, He approached them next topic: Causes of World War II

 – Amaia Moayyad, psychologist expert in emotional intelligence: Self esteem

-Mari Luz Fernández, expert psychologist sales: Personalized study techniques

The program will continue over the next months.


CULTURAL VISIT TO LEON

The past 22 and 23 November students of 2nd year of IES Valle del Cidacos traveled, as is tradition, Leon. On the way back we turn to Herrera de Pisuerga and took the opportunity to make a boat trip on the Canal de Castilla, representative work of enlightened eighteenth century Spain

Leon and we visited the Royal Pantheon and the Museum of San Isidoro, the Gothic Cathedral and, the evening, enjoy a walk in the Humid Quarter and enjoy exquisite tapas.

The next morning we visited the University of León. The rector of the university welcomed us and accompanied the students of Sciences, who visited the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and the Faculty of Biology. Meanwhile, students of arts and letters with their teacher visited the Faculty of Arts where we received the coordinator of the Degree in Art History. And a third group could meet the Faculty of Engineering, where they could try out a flight simulator and observe the operation of 3D printers by adding.

On the way back we visited the Villa Romana de La Olmeda, near Saldaña. The Roman Empire, It is the best preserved village in Spanish soil and conserves 1500 m2 of beautiful mosaics.

PIONEERING PROGRAM EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE

Positive-Mind, It is a pioneering program offered by the IES Valle del Cidacos in collaboration with the University of La Rioja and tries to improve the emotional wellbeing of young people. It aims to develop, improve and / or enhance socio-emotional skills that are relevant to personal life, familiar, academic and social.

They work among other things attention skills, control and emotional regulation, social skills, conflict management, teamwork and behavior and study habits.

Knowledge of these strategies helps a positive emotional development of young people who no doubt will be reflected in improved academic performance.

First Prize Posters Cristalazación

The last day 22 November students of IES Valle del Cidacos received the 1st prize in the National Poster Contest Contest Crystallization School organized by the Specialized Group on Crystallography and Crystalline Growth of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry and Physics and in which they have part of the best posters 8 communities organize regional competitions.

The project during the course 2017/2018 IES students performed Valle del Cidacos advised by professors Santiago Ruiz Abeytua (Physics and chemistry) and Inés Fernández Death (Fine arts) It was to crystallize different chemicals, performing a laboratory notebook, a poster, an explanatory video of its work and prepare an assembly for showing its crystals.

The granting of this award at the national level has allowed the poster made by students of IES Valle del Cidacos has participated in the 31st European Crystallographic Meeting, organized by the European Association of Crystallography and held in Oviedo from 22 to the 27 August 2018.

The days 13 and 15 November, The Department of Social Sciences visited with students of 1st and 2nd of ESO Museum of Romanization of Calahorra.

Museum director, Rosa Aurora Luezas Pascual, He showed us the different rooms dedicated to the Romanization in Calahorra and the celtibérica culture in La Rioja. After the visit, each group held a workshop dedicated to the area we are studying at this moment the subject of Geography and History.

1 students held a workshop in Roman mythology and 2nd a workshop dedicated to different architectural typologies. Thank you very much to the Director for opening the doors of the museum for a few hours and move to live in another era.


EXCHANGE WITH DIJON IN THE VALLEY IES CIDACOS

Comments Off on EXCHANGE WITH DIJON IN THE VALLEY IES CIDACOS

Three students of IES Valle del Cidacos Rebeca de Arruda, Carmen Pérez García and Aitana, currently they enrolled ESO 3, They have participated in a program of collaboration with L 'Académie de Dijon (France). These students spent the month of September in three French institutes and October were their French correspondents who were on our institute. In both cases the students attend class during the week and the weekend, They took the opportunity to do some sightseeing. Like this, the Spanish students visited Paris and around Dijon and French students have visited Olite, Logroño, Arnedillo….

Both Spanish and French families have been overturned so that they feel at home and experience has been very helpful at all levels. They have practiced the language and have known closely every day, culture and cuisine of the respective regions.

This exchange was also very interesting for schools and experience for the students has been enriching both personally and academically.

As already they are habitual, students 4º ESO IES Valle del Cidacos They traveled to Berlin to live with students of German institute Luise Henriette Chulegymnasium, of the 10 to the 17 September of 2018.

During the week in the German capital, visited numerous neighborhoods such as Kreuzberg, the Prenzlauer Berg or Mitte. They walked the Museum Island and conducted a guided tour to Pergamum. They also discovered the cathedral, the dome of the "Reichstag", Brandenburg Gate, Hack Höfe, and how could it be otherwise on a trip to Berlin, They conducted a tour of the exhibition on the wall and walked through the neighborhood of Friedrichshain and the "East Side Gallery" (East Berlin).

It was definitely an intense week that was completed with the arrival of German students to Calahorra. These were in our city 3 to the 10 October to live with our students and their families.

TRIP TO ZARAGOZA WITH 2nd year

The past 2 October students of 2nd year (Science, Letters and Arts) They traveled to Zaragoza in the company of two teachers. The exit, organized by the Department of Geography and History, He was intended to visit the Roman Zaragoza (Caesar Augusta): River port, Forum, Thermal Baths and Theater. They enjoyed it so, a guided tour of the Museum of Zaragoza located in the Plaza de los Sitios. There were divided into two groups, half visited the rooms dedicated to Rome, and half the rooms Goya. The trip was very fruitful, especially for subjects of History, Art History and Fundamentals of Art. They also enjoyed good moments of leisure and free time to enjoy the city and shopping.
