PILC (Linguistic innovation centers project)

What is it?

The PILC is a project called each school year by the Ministry of education, Culture and tourism in order to promote the use of foreign languages in the classroom. The IES within its determined commitment to languages participate every year in the same with very satisfying results.

Are there methods?

They exist 3 modalities of the PILC:

  • PILC A: In this mode teachers used the foreign language project object to communicate with the students in aspects related to routines, Best regards, indications, instructions, statements, etc. If the progress of the class recommend it over the course of the school year, also small parts of the curriculum are developed. To participate in this modality teachers must have a level in the CEFR B1 (Common European framework of reference).
  • PILC B: Teachers teach, at least, a teaching unit of the curriculum in the foreign language subject of the project. To participate in this way teachers must have a level in the CEFR B2.
  • C PILC: Under this modality, teachers teach the contents of an area or field of the curriculum in the foreign language subject to the project. To participate in this way teachers must have a level in the CEFR B2.

What is the participation of the IES in the project?

In the course 2012/13, the Valley of the Cidacos IES, Whereas throughout La Rioja, It was the 2nd in number of total participants (20 teachers) and the 1st in number of participants of the main mode (mode B – 8 participants), being the 1st of Calahorra.

In this new course 2013/14, our Institute is holding identical positions, 1from Calahorra and 2nd of all community in terms of number of participants, but with greater number of teachers enrolled in the most demanding procedures (B and C) than 1.

Participation in the course data 2013/2014 are:

  • PILC A: 5 teachers.
  • PILC B: 11 teachers.
  • C PILC: 3 teachers.
