The IES. Calahorra's “Valle del Cidacos” participates from the course 2.021/2.022 in the Educational Innovation Project (P.I.E.) of Educational Centers Towards Sustainability (C.E.H.S.), promoted by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sustainability and Ecological Transition of the Government of La Rioja. This project has as its primary objective, promote collaborative learning processes that enable the educational community to understand the challenges, take responsibility, make the decisions and carry out the necessary actions to build more sustainable societies.
The "Valley" wants to be sustainable since ancient times, and that is why it has a garden in its facilities since time immemorial, honoring the horticultural fame of Calahorra (see a picture of it).
Our institute has been committed to sustainability for many years, and good proof of this are the solar panels installed on the roof of the building 3 during the summer 2.020 (see in the photo).
Already in 2.021 we took several more steps: we began to select and weigh the paper in the classrooms, we make our own snack holders to avoid the use of disposable containers, We painted the bins to differentiate containers of biodegradable waste fraction and we even painted the 17 Sustainable Development Goals promoted by the UN since 2.015 with the horizon set on 2.030 (the bottom photo shows part of these actions).
So things, we decided at the beginning of the course 2.021-22 get involved in this project. After the approval of the director and her management team, the faculty unanimously voted in favor of joining the same (the photo shows the globe in the Europa pavilion).
Although we were already quite sensitized, in September we took out several groups from the institute to clean up garbage in the nearest parks, and the result was very evident (See the photo, but).
But not only the environment is made up of plants and animals that fall ill and die, or who see their habitats contaminated.
The teachers found a suggestive message in the center of their main room (Photo).
In addition, teachers received a glass from the C.E.H.S project. to reduce the use of disposable plastic cups (Photo).
On the other hand, the corridors have been decorated with suggestive messages to make students think, including a simulation of plant fouling, posters and press clippings. (César poses next to the press photocall that detects our wounds on the planet).
Loli left in the building 2 dedicated to Vocational Training an obvious complaint (see below).
Elisa, Leticia, Leyre and Patricia have posted suggestive messages in the staff room to help and encourage good waste separation.
Also, Throughout a whole week they will develop a poster day after day on the stairs of the secondary and high school buildings, with these titles:
"What do you hear?”Through public address noise and images that seek to raise awareness about the enormous noise pollution that we produce.
Later we will launch a prediagnosis survey to analyze up to 8 different themes.
